What is SEL?
Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions (CASEL).
The counseling curriculum serves as a vehicle to help guide us towards the development of these personal and relational skills while providing students and educators the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations. These conversations follow a consistent structure including an inclusion activity, a video or article, a discussion protocol, and a takeaway reflection activity.
